Nostalgia Bait: The Game

“Dragon Quest Treasures” (“DQT”) is the latest spinoff of the venerable ‘Dragon Quest’ series, which is, itself, a cultural institution within Japan’s videogame sector. In recent years, a significant portion of Square-Enix’s portfolio of flagship franchises have been farmed out to external development studios, both for ports and for smaller-scale spinoff titles, and “DQT” is no different, as the product of TOSE Software. TOSE is a venerable Japanese institution all on its own, contributing to thousands of game development projects (often uncredited) since its founding in 1979.
