Starting out life as a Kickstarter project in 2011 before releasing episodically between 2013-2020, Kentucky Route Zero has been hailed as a groundbreaking narrative video game and was heaped with a variety of best-of awards and top-list appearances. Originally developed by Cardboard Computer, it was later widely published by Annapurna Interactive - no stranger to distributing indie games. Despite its seven-year release schedule, it managed to grab plenty of attention and is one of the top answers to the question "can video games be considered art?" Unique and thought-provoking, it truly does expand on what video games can be.
