CyGames is a Japanese Indie studio that began its life in 2011 as a peddler of scum and villainy on the Apple App Store and Google Play. It made something of a splash with its digital card games, but its fourth release, “Granblue Fantasy,” was a gachapon-driven RPG that somehow broke through the noise and proved to be insanely popular, in spite of not having an existing IP tied to it to encourage spending on those gacha random character pulls. Of course, “Granblue Fantasy” was only released in the Japanese domestic market.
