Synopsis: During a journey on a colonist ship bound for the furthest reaches of the galaxy, you become lost in transit. Now, decades later, you finally make it to the Halcyon Colony, only to find the system embroiled in a deep conspiracy that threatens the entire colony. In true Obsidian fashion, Outer Worlds is a player-driven story RPG, where the choices you make affect not only you, but your companions and the world at large. Find a ship, recruit companions, explore the the settlements and other intriguing locations as you unravel the conspiracy. The new "flaw" system has the game track what you may not be good at - with offers that can both hinder and help your journey - while shaping a character that is unique to you.

It's Not the Best Choice, It's The Outer Worlds

Obsidian Entertainment will forever and always be tied to Fallout: New Vegas - still the most ambitious and memorable of the series. But people looking at that through rose-colored glasses may forget the game was an even buggier mess than Fallout 3 when it was released. Obsidian has made other great games - I'm particularly a fan of South Park: The Stick of Truth (a fun and damn funny licensed game), along with solid early sequels in Knights of the Old Republic 2 and Neverwinter Nights 2. They also made Pillars of Eternity (and its sequel), Tyranny and Avowed - but as I haven't played those I have no opinion. What I have played here, is The Outer Worlds - a space exploration/FPS games about a long-distant Earth colony dominated by corporations and, of course, utterly falling apart. It …

“The Outer Worlds” (“TOW”) is the final game developed by Obsidian Entertainment – the Indie studio crafted from the scattered remains of Black Isle after the collapse of InterPlay around the turn of the millennium – before the studio’s acquisition by Microsoft. Indeed, “TOW” was released during the acquisition process, and only remained an independent release, published by Take-Two, due to the fact that all prior development and contracts were handled without Microsoft’s involvement.
